Thames Ditton Team Talk – Week 3

38 goals, big wins and brilliant team spirit!

Our U7s squad play 3v3 at Molesey Juniors FC today
Week three delivered 38 TDYFC goals across the reported results, with some outstanding away wins, a clean sheet, a hat-trick, a four-goal haul and plenty of resilience when matches did not go our way.

From the U7s taking on Molesey Juniors to the U16s scoring six away from home, it was another busy weekend full of effort, teamwork and smiles.

Well done to every player, coach, volunteer and supporter who represented Thames Ditton Youth Football Club so brilliantly.

On the pitch

U16 Cobras – 6–0 win away at Dorkinians

A superb first away match of the season for the U16 Cobras, who played some excellent football despite a difficult pitch. Sam opened the scoring before a ruthless second half: Henry scored twice and Georgie completed a brilliant hat-trick.

Just as pleasing was the determined defensive display, with the whole back line committed to protecting the clean sheet — including a fantastic sliding tackle from Jude.

U13 Cobras – 6–1 win away at Cobham U13 Hammers

The U13s bounced back in style with a terrific team win at Cobham. After soaking up early pressure, Samuel opened the scoring from a corner before Ben added another. Samuel struck again before half-time, and the Cobras took control after the break.

Ben completed a superb four-goal performance, while the whole team defended resolutely and moved the ball brilliantly.

A special mention to Yuriy, who earned Player of the Match for an outstanding display in midfield.

U12 Blues – 4–0 win vs Reigate Priory Youth U12 Kestrels

A really impressive all-round performance from the U12 Blues. Alex set the tone with an early goal, quickly followed by Freddie. Rohan added a fine long-range effort and James completed the scoring. Everyone played their part in a confident team display, capped off with a clean sheet and a goalkeeping debut for Arthur. Well done, Blues!

U10 Girls – 2–5 loss vs Reigate Priory Youth Hawks

A huge effort from the U10 Girls against another side that played at this level last season. With just seven players for more than half the match, the girls had to dig deep, rotate into unfamiliar positions and keep working for one another.

The teams were level at 2–2 for 45 minutes, before tiredness took its toll in the final five minutes. Super-sub Alaia also made her debut, while Aurelia scored both TDYFC goals after a tireless display up front. Jessica was immense in her challenges, Iris linked play brilliantly, and every girl gave absolutely everything.

Lots of positives and valuable experience to take into the next match — onwards and upwards! 💪

U11 Cobras – 7–1 win vs Twickenham Tigers Oranges

A strong 7–1 win for the U11 Cobras, who showed great teamwork throughout. Twickenham Tigers were left short of players following an early injury, so the Cobras showed excellent sportsmanship by taking a player off at 5–1 to make the rest of the match 6v6.

Teddy scored a brilliant hat-trick, with Josh, Tom and Zavi also on the scoresheet. William made a superb one-handed save, while George, Sebby and Charlie kept things tight at the back. Ailbie worked tirelessly, especially in tracking back to win the ball again.

The biggest lesson was clear: when the Cobras kept the ball on the floor and released it early, they created chances and took them. A great team performance — well done, Cobras! ⚽🐍

U15 Cobras – 1–3 loss vs Reigate Priory Youth Buzzards

The U15 Cobras faced a competitive Reigate Priory side and kept battling throughout. Although the result did not go their way, there will be lessons to take forward into next weekend.

U9 Cobras – 3–0 win away at Hersham Youth

A fantastic win and clean sheet for the U9 Cobras against strong opposition. The team showed great patterns of play and teamwork throughout.

The highlight was surely the third goal, with every player touching the ball before Rupert applied the finish. Jack also scored, Rupert added a second, and Arlo was named Player of the Match. Brilliant work, Cobras! 🐍

U8 Cobras – 3–7 loss vs Key Sport Saints

A tougher test for the U8 Cobras against a strong Key Sport side, but the boys never stopped battling. They supported one another, kept playing until the final whistle and can take plenty of positives from the performance.

Two wins from the first three matches is still a fantastic start to the season. Keep going, Cobras!

U9 Blues – 2–7 loss vs Ashtead Colts Rovers

The U9 Blues came up against a strong, well-organised Ashtead team. The early stages were closely contested, with Alfie L-S finishing neatly from Conor’s cross to keep the Blues right in the match.

Alfie scored again late on, and the boys kept working hard throughout. As this new group gets more time playing together, the teamwork and understanding will only grow.

U9 Swans – 2–6 loss vs Walton & Hersham United Wings

The scoreline did not tell the full story in a close and competitive match for the U9 Swans. Some long-range free kicks and unlucky ricochets proved costly, but there was lots of encouraging football — particularly across the first three quarters. Toby scored both goals, while Euan and Arthur made some excellent saves, and the whole team showed great energy and commitment.

U12 Cobras – 0–2 loss away at Caterham Pumas Lions

The U12 Cobras were involved in a really good game of football and worked hard throughout. Emilio was outstanding in goal, making several brilliant saves to keep the team in the match, while the defence stood firm. The Cobras could not quite find a way through a well-organised Caterham defence, but there was plenty of effort and lots to build on next week.

Also in action

Our U7 Cobras travelled to Molesey Juniors Jaguars for another fun matchday. At U7 level, the focus is firmly on enjoyment, development and lots of touches of the ball, so scores are not recorded.

U11 Blues were narrowly beaten 3–2 by Walton & Hersham United Eagles. A close match and a strong effort from the Blues, who will take plenty into next week.
